The Indiana Women's History Association convened at 9:00 a.m. at the Indiana History Center, 450 West Ohio Street, Indianapolis, Indiana.

Beth Van Vorst Gray, President of the Association, called the Indiana Women's History Association to order.
I. Introductions.
Ms. Gray welcomed those in attendance. She asked everyone to introduce herself, and
asked each person to give a brief description of their interest in women's history.
II. Approval of Minutes.
Ms. Hargitt requested a motion to approve the minutes as submitted (and emailed).
Seconded by Ms. Chambers. The motion passed.
III. Report by the Treasurer
Ms. Regan–Dinius reported that IWHA had an opening balance of $4,639.52 and an ending
balance of $4,432.84 for the reporting period of January 1, 2004 through May 18, 2004. (See
Treasurer's Report). Ms. Wokeck made a motion to approve the report as submitted. Seconded
by Ms. Hargitt. The motion passed.
IV. Board Member Nominations and Election.
Ms. Craycraft announced the nominations for the following new members to the
board:
V. Committee Reports on 2003-2004 activities.
A. Webpage - The IWHA web page ( http://www.iwh.iupui.edu) has been successfully updated by the new web mistress, Mary Schons. Please address suggestions for additions, updates, and corrections to the IWHA Communications Committee.B. Women's History Trails- Jill Chambers and Jeannie Regan- Dinius reported that the committee met June 2 and will meet again on June 23. Pam Bennett (Director of the Indiana Historical Bureau) and Ms. Regan-Dinius presented the proposed Indiana Women's History Trail project idea to the County Historians meeting asking for information on important county women and have already received positive feedback. They are working on criteria and a form based on the New York group's report form.
C. Crump/Diener Women's History Project- The biographies are on the web and one can search the individuals by Name, City, County and Occupation or Profess, thanks in large part to webmaster, Mary Schons. Our appreciation also goes to the enormous efforts of collecting the information by Claudia and Carolyn. We are grateful that it is now available for others to access.
D. For the Sport of It- Pat Barnes announced that the documentary "For the Sport of It! Female Athletics & Title IX" was distributed in April and May to the 396–member high schools of the Indiana State High School Athletic Association. The assistance of a donation by the Indiana Coaches of Girls Sports Association raised funds for the distribution of the documentary to high schools. Ms. Barnes agreed to assist Jeannie Regan–Dinius with the last major step in the project, marketing the documentary to Indiana museums and colleges to raise revenue for future projects undertaken by IWHA. Ms Barnes also said the documentary has won a Platinum Award - the major award in its category – at the WorldFest International Film Festival in Houston, Texas.
E. Women in Courts- The celebration took placed at the District Court on April 29 where about 130 people attended. Speakers included the Hon. Sarah Evans Barker, Hon. V. Sue Shields, Hon. Betty Barteau, and Suzanne Buchko. Judge Barteau was the keynote speaker and spoke about her journey from lawyer to Marion County Superior Court Judge, to Indiana Court of Appeals Judge, to head of the Russian Judicial College. She also talked about the Russian legal system and living in Moscow. Judge Barker opened the program and spoke about the many women who have contributed to our court system. Judge Shields provided a meaty introduction to Judge Barteau, and Ms. Buchko closed the event. The Celebration was very successful and everyone enjoyed the refreshments afterwards. This event was co-sponsored by the IWHA, the District Court's Historical Society, and the Women and Law Division of the Indianapolis Bar. Members of IWHA that planned the event were Suzanne Buchko, Christine Doublas, Beth Gray, Evelyn Hollins, Marcia Mahoney, and Elizabeth Osborne.

Members of our group will be nominating Jane Fribley, Pat Barnes and others of the IWHA for
this prestigious award. Entries are due soon for the upcoming September ceremony.
Honors and Awards
Ms. Van Vorst Gray awarded Honorary Board membership to Ms. Virginia Dill McCarty
(who was not present at last year's annual meeting) and presented a small gift in
appreciation of her dedication and life's work.
