INDIANA WOMEN'S HISTORY ASSOCIATION
Board of Directors Meeting

Thursday, January 15, 2004

The Indiana Women's History Association Board Of Directors Meeting convened at 5:50 p.m. at the Indiana History Center, 450 West Ohio Street, Indianapolis, Indiana.

Present: Marianne Wokeck (Vice President), Sarah Hargitt (Secretary), Pat Barnes, Ray Boomhower, Mary Ann Butters, Jill Chambers, Cara Dafforn, Jane S. Fribley, Patricia Gallagher, Barbara Zimmer. Melissa Bingmann, and Barbara Quigley also attended.

Absent: Beth Van Vorst Gray (President), Jeannie Reagan-Dinius (Treasurer), Jean Bepko, Cordelia Lewis-Burks, Annette Craycraft, Virginia Dill McCarty, Joann Passat, Kris Schubach, Marian Towne, Noraleen Young.

I. Call To Order.
Marianne Wokeck, Vice President of the Association, called the IWHA Board of Directors meeting to order at 5:50 p.m.

II. Approval of the Minutes as Distributed.
Ms. Hargitt requested that the November Board Meeting minutes be approved. Moved by Ms. Hargitt. Seconded by Ms. Barnes. The motion passed.

III. Report of the Treasurer
As Ms. Regan-Dinius was unable to attend the meeting, the report was not available. It is expected that the report will be sent to the board via email.

V. Vice President's Report
The website is updated and looks good. The format is plain and easy to read.

VI. Committee Reports

A. "Notable Indiana Women" – Crump/Diener Collection
Search capability on the website is being refined – looking at different search categories such as by name, profession, residence. When finished it will be rolled out.

B. Publications Committee
Ms. Gallagher reported that meetings have taken place to brainstorm on what the book will entail. The editorial committee is in place. The first item is sports, such as Indiana Women in Sport, A to Z. This may intersect with the History Trail – needing markers for some notable women.

C. National Women's History Trail
Ms. Chambers has been working with Pam Bennett at the Indiana Historical Bureau since they are doing a similar project.

D. Twentieth Anniversary Celebration and Membership Committee
Cocktail party is planned for Friday, February 20 – for the membership kickoff drive campaign to get new members. Details are still forthcoming. The board and members are asked to bring a guest to the party. The brochure and "application" to join should be available at that time.

E. Brochure and Stationery
Should be ready for the Celebration on February 20.

F. IAH Meeting Saturday-Sunday, February 27-28 – Dr. Wokeck
This year's meeting will be at the University of Indianapolis.

G. Indiana History Day – Saturday, April 25, 2004 – Ms. Fox No update as Ms. Fox was not in attendance.

Old and New Business

A. The play, Saint Susan, will be running weekends May 7-23 at the Epilogue Theater.

B. IWHA Annual Meeting will be held Saturday, June 5 at the Indiana History Center/Indiana Historical Society. After the meeting there will be a program, and lunch can be ordered.

C. The Zerelda Wallace historical marker dedication, held downtown Indianapolis, will be Sunday June 13.
